We found another discarded VHS and we save it for posterity. Here you see Xavier Cugat Orchestra playing BIM, BAM, BUM from the great Puerto Rican composer Noro Morales. Lina Romay is the lead singer. Xavier Cugat was born in January 1, 1900 in Girona, Spain. He considered himself a catalan. He died October 27, 1990. His parents moved to Cuba when he was a child. He learned to play the violin at an early age. A reporter asked Perez Prado what he would like to be when he reached fame? His answer was I will like to reach the fame of Xavier Cugat. In 1915 he moved with his family to New York. Later on he went to work for the Los Angeles Times as a cartoonist. All his caricature has been syndicated. Somehow he got involved in music and formed an orchestra to play at the New York Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Miguelito Valdes became the main singer of the orchestra. When Miguelito left then Tito Rodriguez took over. His first marriage was with Abbe Lane in 1952. They performed together until he divorced her in 1964. Then he married the spicy Charo on August 7, 1966 when he was 66. He and Charo went on a worldwide tour. Later they separated. The he moved back to his native Cataluna. He died at age 90 in Barcelona, Spain.
